All important information about the dimensions, installation and care of your new Mosel door.

Everything you need to know about your Mosel door: From taking measurements to maintenance - here you will find valuable information, practical tips and clear instructions to ensure that your door not only looks great, but also lasts a long time.

Five steps to your new door

1 – Clarify door dimensions and opening direction

Option one – new building: Measure height, width and wall thickness

The wall opening determines the size of the door leaf and frame. Please measure the height, width and wall thickness of the wall opening. To ensure that any unevenness is detected, please always measure at least on three different places. The largest measured value of the wall thickness defines the dimension; for the wall opening it is the smallest value. Caution: A construction drawing does not indicate the final wall thickness. Measure the finished wall including plaster or tiles as well as floor tiles and floor coverings.

Option two – renovation: Measure your old door

Providing that you don’t want to make any changes to the floor or wall, simply measure the width and height of the old door leaf. Now measure the full depth of the frame, deduct the thickness of the frame lining at the front and rear to arrive at the wall thickness. Doors can often be replaced without any need for repapering or painting. Check the table on this page: if your new door is at least two centimetres wider than the existing frame, there is usually no need to do any repapering.

WT: Wall thickness including
plaster, tiles, etc.

Selecting the opening direction

To which side do you want your door to open? The door is connected to the frame depending on how you want your door to open.

2 – Select door design

Select design and surface finish

We arrange our collections by design such as plain, traditional or vertical-grain wood design doors to make it easier for you to find what you want. Each door collection is produced with a specific surface finish: either exclusive Lacquer, a sturdy CPL coating or all-glass. Their qualities and differences are explained below.

Natural white, Polar white and Lava grey doors

Lacquer – in natural white, Polar white or Lava grey

All our white satin doors are finished with several coats of paint. We use only high-quality UV paint. It is low-emission and has a minimum pollutant content. Natural white doors are ideal for warm muted interior designs. We created our exclusive Polar white specially to match the most commonly sold pure white wall paints.

CPL – in natural or Polar white

Doors with a CPL surface finish are particularly sturdy and easy-care. Finished with an electron beam hardened surface CPL door sets are resistant to scratches, shocks, moisture and dirt. Glass doors

Patterns and textures

The glass doors are designed with geometric patterns and organic textures, which are traced onto the front for a touch and feel effect. We use eight-millimetre safety glass on all our glass doors. This type of glass is more shock and impact-resistant than normal sheet glass.

Satin-finished designer glass doors

The glass doors are finished on one side with satined geometric designs. We seal the designs with nano coating, so it is easier to remove fingerprints. We use eight-millimetre safety glass on all our glass doors. This type of glass is more shock and impact-resistant than normal sheet glass.

Extra: Vision panel selection

All natural white, Polar white, Lava grey and wood design doors are also available with a wide selection of vision panels and glass styles. We show you the vision panels available in each collection.

3 – Plan your functions and extensions

Select functions

Kitchen, children’s bedroom, entrance, study – certain room situations call for special functions. They enhance the safety of the door leaf in case of attempted burglary or increase resistance to fire and smoke. Choose from perfectly preconfigured packages: sound reduction, heat protection, burglary resistance, fire resistance or smoke protection. The catalogue helps you to easily select the right package for you. Your dealer will also be happy to advise you.

Select extensions

Extensions can turn your door into a vestibule, sliding or double-leaf version. Vestibule-style doors minimise heat loss, draughts and noise levels. Sliding doors slip into or run upon the wall to save space and do not project into the room. We advise you to consult your dealer to ensure a perfect fit and installation.

Clean correctly

Many types of stain are easy to remove. Please observe the following instructions:

  • Remove any loose dirt by hand.
  • Wipe the surface with a damp cloth and the cleaning agent recommended here. For textured surfaces, please wipe parallel to the texture.
  • Always finish by wiping with a little water. Then dry the area completely with a cloth. Do not use mechanical devices such as steam cleaners or cleaning machines.
  • Do not clean with steel wool, scouring powder, dirt erasers or abrasive pads.
  • Please test more aggressive cleaning agents on an inconspicuous area before treating larger, visible surfaces.

Please follow the instructions in our installation instructions for choosing the right cleaning agent.

Maintain correctly

  • Check the function and fit of the door and the function of the lock and latch at least once a year. Regrease if necessary. The hinges are maintenance-free and do not need to be oiled.
  • Do not hang any coat hooks or towel rails on the door. This puts strain on the hinges, causes scratches and allows moisture to penetrate.
  • Do not wipe hard floors too wet, otherwise moisture may penetrate the door leaf.

Repair scratches

For scratches or minor damage to the door, our specialist dealers have suitable repair kits consisting of hard wax, spray paint and touch-up pens for you.
